About Us
Central Victoria Hay is run by Leigh and Jan Williamson and is based in the Goldfields region of Victoria. Located on the edge of the Tullaroop creek approximately 15kms west of Maldon and 65kms South West of Bendigo. We sell hay in the Bendigo, Ballarat, Maryborough, Kyneton, Woodend, Gisborne and Sunbury areas.
Leigh and Jan have been farming at their property 'Gairnshiel' for over 40 years and the Williamson family have been farming in the area since Leigh's grandfather emigrated from Scotland in 1886.
Gairnshiel is dissected by the Tullaroop creek which is fed from the Tullaroop weir at Carisbrook, 10kms up stream and feeds into the Loddon river and ultimately the Murray river. Gairnshiel features undulating river flats which are perfect for growing irrigated Lucerne and other crops, as well as running their Shorthorn cattle
Leigh has been growing Lucerne and cereal hay his whole life, and estimates he has personally baled over 2 million small squares of hay (or little lamingtons as he calls them). Thankfully, the bales are no longer manually handled!
Today, Central Victoria Hay sells and grows in the region of 30,000 small squares annually. We are happy to deal with small and large clients and welcome inspections. We can also deliver your hay or pick up at Gairnshiel.
